What you'll do
- Lead the procurement strategy for pharmaceutical products, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and conditions, ensuring the best value for the company.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, potential suppliers, and opportunities for cost savings in the procurement of pharmaceuticals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure seamless integration of procurement activities with overall business operations.
- Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain quality and service levels.
- Manage the procurement budget, forecasting needs, and tracking expenditures to ensure financial accountability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing pharmaceutical procurement and supply chain management.
- Lead negotiations for contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring that all terms are favorable and aligned with company objectives.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the procurement process, including supply chain disruptions and compliance issues.
- Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and market trends to senior management.
- Train and mentor junior procurement staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in pharmaceutical procurement to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, specifically within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation and management, with a focus on cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and compliance requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong sense of initiative.
Nice to have
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, APICS) is highly desirable.
- Experience with e-procurement systems and digital transformation in procurement processes.
- Familiarity with international sourcing and global supply chain management practices.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices within procurement and supply chain operations.
Skills & tools
The successful candidate will be proficient in various procurement and supply chain management tools, including but not limited to ERP systems, procurement software, and data analysis tools. Strong skills in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management are essential. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards in the pharmaceutical industry will be critical for success in this role.
