J Street is seeking a dedicated Engagement Assistant to support our initiatives in the Mid-Atlantic and Florida regions. Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist in the planning and execution of events aimed at engaging community members and stakeholders in the Mid-Atlantic and Florida regions.
- Coordinate logistics for various outreach activities, including securing venues, managing registrations, and ensuring all materials are prepared and available.
- Support the development of promotional content for events, including social media posts, newsletters, and other communication materials to enhance visibility and participation.
- Collaborate with the Engagement team to identify and cultivate relationships with local leaders, organizations, and activists to strengthen community ties.
- Conduct research on potential partners and community needs to inform engagement strategies and tailor initiatives effectively.
- Maintain and update databases of contacts, event attendees, and community partners to ensure accurate and efficient communication.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations summarizing engagement activities and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support to the Engagement team, including scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and managing correspondence.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas for new initiatives and improvements to existing programs.
- Help track and analyze engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts and inform future strategies.
- Engage with community members through phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings to gather feedback and encourage participation in J Street initiatives.
- Support fundraising efforts by assisting in the organization of donor events and outreach campaigns to increase financial support for J Street's mission.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as political science, international relations, or communications.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, event planning, or a related area.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for crafting compelling narratives and engaging content.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and digital communication tools to reach diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with the political landscape in the Mid-Atlantic and Florida regions, particularly related to pro-Israel and peace advocacy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and capable of working independently.
Nice to have
- Experience in nonprofit organizations or advocacy groups, particularly in roles focused on community outreach or engagement.
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations.
- Familiarity with database management systems and CRM tools for tracking engagement efforts.
- Proficiency in graphic design software or tools for creating promotional materials.
- Experience in public speaking or representing an organization at events and meetings.
Skills & tools
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Familiarity with social media management tools and email marketing platforms.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports to inform decision-making processes.
