Manager, Engineering
Job description
About the role
You will own the design and delivery of the Nova platform and related initiatives that power Iterable's core customer engagement capabilities. This role requires you to translate ambiguous product ideas into robust, scalable software solutions that serve millions of customers. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to define requirements, prioritize work, and make tradeoffs that balance user experience with business goals. You will lead technical decisions in your squad, ensuring that architecture choices align with long-term product and performance objectives. You will mentor junior engineers, elevate code quality through reviews, and foster a culture of learning and experimentation within your team. A significant part of your week will be spent collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and operations teams to refine requirements and validate outcomes. You will be responsible for driving end-to-end delivery, from initial scoping through deployment and post-launch monitoring, ensuring reliability and maintainability. You will communicate complex technical concepts in clear, non-technical terms to align stakeholders and build shared understanding across the organization.

Candidates may be asked to complete a take-home task or solve coding problems during the process.
Interviews assess how you break down unfamiliar problems, collaborate with others, and communicate technical decisions clearly.
The hiring process is designed to be respectful of your time, and feedback will be provided promptly at each stage.
Engineers in this role commonly use specific development tools, cloud platforms, and collaboration practices to design, test, and deploy software.
Product management practices align objectives across design, engineering, and business teams to ensure coherent roadmaps.
Teams track delivery outcomes using metrics and adjust plans based on data-driven insights.
Professional communication with cross-functional partners is essential to balance scope, timelines, and dependencies.
Career growth follows demonstrated impact, with progression from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels.
Some engineers transition into management paths leading small teams, while others remain on the technical track.
Moving up requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tasks alone.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year.
Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question.
Keep the list short and select the questions that matter most to you.
