What you'll do

• Prepare survey setups and operate total stations, GPS units, and digital levels to collect precise elevation and coordinate data for various projects.
• Conduct detailed field measurements of land boundaries, topographical features, and existing infrastructure to support engineering and planning initiatives.
• Record observations, measurements, and environmental conditions meticulously in field notes to ensure an accurate and verifiable data trail.
• Perform routine checks and diagnostic tests on surveying instruments to verify functionality and maintain calibration standards in the field.
• Assist in the computation of survey data using specialized software, transforming raw measurements into coherent plans and cross-sections.
• Draft clear and concise reports that summarize findings, highlight discrepancies, and present recommendations based on site investigations and data analysis.
• Support the compilation of title plans, site plans, and other graphical documents required for regulatory submissions and client presentations.
• Participate actively in project meetings, taking notes and gathering information necessary for the preparation of progress updates and technical correspondence.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and other professionals on-site to clarify requirements, confirm positions, and resolve practical surveying queries.
• Monitor project progress to ensure survey schedules are met and that deliverables align with contractual obligations and timelines.
• Assist in the maintenance and inventory of survey equipment, ensuring tools are serviced, stored securely, and ready for deployment.
• Implement quality control procedures to verify the accuracy of collected data before it is integrated into larger project deliverables.

Requirements

• Hold a diploma or degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrate a minimum of two years of proven experience in a surveying capacity or a role that involves significant technical measurement responsibilities.
• Show advanced proficiency in the operation of modern surveying equipment, including total stations, electronic distance measurement devices, and GPS systems.
• Exhibit strong competence in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD for drafting and GIS applications for spatial data management.
• Possess highly developed analytical skills, enabling the interpretation of complex technical specifications and the resolution of measurement discrepancies.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats, ensuring technical instructions and field reports are clear and accessible to all stakeholders.
• Function effectively with minimal direct supervision, demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, and a disciplined approach to task completion.
• Work cohesively within a multi-disciplinary team environment, respecting deadlines and collaborating efficiently with engineering and construction colleagues.
