About the role
Issgh is currently seeking an Accountant Assistant to join their growing team in Rio de Janeiro. This full-time position provides essential support to the accounting department by handling daily financial tasks and maintaining accurate records. The Accountant Assistant will work closely with senior accounting professionals to ensure that all financial documentation is properly organized and up to date. Responsibilities include processing invoices, assisting with bank reconciliations, and helping prepare reports that support the broader financial operations at Issgh. The role is integral to keeping the finance function running smoothly and ensuring that internal and external stakeholders receive timely and accurate financial information.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist with daily bookkeeping tasks including recording financial transactions and updating ledger entries in the system
- Help prepare invoices and verify that all billing documents are complete and accurate before submission
- Support the reconciliation of bank statements and internal accounts on a regular weekly basis
- Organize and maintain both physical and digital financial files for easy retrieval and future reference
- Assist with payroll processing by collecting and verifying employee time and attendance records each pay period
- Help prepare monthly financial reports and summarize key accounting data for review by management
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper documentation of expenses and supporting receipts are filed
- Participate in periodic inventory counts and assist with recording any inventory adjustments in the system
- Support audit preparation by gathering and organizing requested financial documentation and supporting records
- Help ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and local regulatory filing requirements at all times
- Contribute to month end closing procedures by assisting with accruals and prepayments entries
- Aid in the preparation of tax related documentation and supporting schedules as needed
- Assist with the preparation of journal entries and ensure they are properly documented and approved
- Monitor and track outstanding accounts receivable and assist with sending reminders for overdue payments
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; further education in accounting or finance is preferred
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles and general accounting practices is necessary for daily tasks
- Ability to work with numbers accurately and maintain attention to detail in all assigned tasks
- Proficiency with spreadsheet software and basic computer skills for daily office administrative work
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines effectively
- Good written and spoken communication skills in Portuguese for effective workplace interactions and coordination
- Willingness to learn accounting procedures and follow established company processes and guidelines consistently
- Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from senior supervisors with professionalism
- Attention to detail is critical and a commitment to accuracy in all financial documentation is expected
- Prior experience working in a corporate or professional services accounting environment is a strong advantage
Nice to have
- Familiarity with local Brazilian tax regulations and reporting obligations is considered a plus
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms is highly valued
- Knowledge of basic payroll procedures and social contribution calculations specific to Brazil is helpful
- Previous internship or entry level experience in an accounting or finance setting is beneficial
- Understanding of local labor laws and employee benefit regulations in Brazil is advantageous
