This role centers on leading complex digital initiatives where GCP expertise is mission-critical for client success. You will operate at the intersection of technical design and team leadership, driving solutions that are both robust and secure. The position demands a high level of adaptability to navigate evolving project requirements and technological landscapes. You will be instrumental in defining and upholding architectural standards that align with industry best practices. Collaboration with the Commerce team will span the entire project lifecycle from initial opportunity qualification to final roadmap validation. Your decisions will directly influence the technical direction and delivery quality of client solutions. You will have the authority and responsibility to shape squad compositions and guide key technical tradeoffs during discovery phases. Success in this role is measured by your ability to balance innovation with governance, ensuring automation and security are embedded in every solution.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and oversee the implementation of GCP infrastructure patterns that ensure scalability, resilience, and strict adherence to security constraints.
- Design and manage intake workflows for GCP environments to optimize coordination across cross-functional squads and delivery teams.
- Champion rigorous review practices that validate architecture decisions and enforce compliance checkpoints at every project stage.
- Orchestrate deployment pipelines to streamline shipping phases and stabilize production release rhythms across complex environments.
- Lead joint validation sessions with partner organizations to clarify roadmap milestones and define critical integration touchpoints.
- Select and shape squad composition while directing technical tradeoffs during solution exploration and discovery sessions.
- Guide the automation strategy for CI/CD ecosystems by leveraging tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Spinnaker, and GitHub workflows.
- Uphold platform excellence by consistently applying Google Well-Architected Framework reviews and FinOPS financial governance guidelines.
- Ensure infrastructure is defined and managed through Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible within highly collaborative workflows.
- Command container-based ecosystems including Docker, Kubernetes, GKE operations, and Fargate services to deliver scalable production platforms.
- Act as a technical authority within the Cloud & DevOps practice, mentoring team members and elevating the overall skill level of the squad.
- Drive the delivery of high-value outcomes by aligning technical execution with precise business objectives and client expectations.
- Contribute to the selection and development of future engineering talent by participating in interview processes and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain a forward-looking perspective on cloud innovations, ensuring solutions leverage current and emerging GCP capabilities.
Requirements
- Hold GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification with a specialization in Security Engineer or Network Engineer.
- Bring demonstrable experience managing large-scale migrations and modernization initiatives within public cloud environments.
- Demonstrate mastery over Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible within collaborative software development workflows.
- Command container ecosystems including Docker, Kubernetes, GKE operations, and Fargate services with confidence.
- Thrive under significant responsibility, balancing hands-on technical oversight with effective team leadership and mentorship.
- Show deep understanding of cloud security principles, identity management, and network architecture on GCP.
- Exhibit strong proficiency in automation principles and the implementation of CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable software delivery.
- Possess excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Have a proven track record of working within Agile frameworks and contributing to high-performing, cross-functional teams.
- Be prepared to travel occasionally for client visits, industry events, or internal knowledge transfer sessions as required.
Nice to have
- Experience speaking at Meetups, Summits, and internal or external knowledge transfer sessions.
- Active involvement in the Ippon community, including participation in the BlackBelt training program or mentorship activities.
- Familiarity with Commerce team objectives and digital transformation projects in the retail or e-commerce sectors.
