As an L3 SOC Analyst, you will be responsible for investigating complex security incidents and providing expert guidance to junior analysts. What you'll do
- Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents, identifying root causes and recommending remediation strategies.
- Monitor security alerts and events from various sources, including SIEM systems, to detect potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement security policies and procedures that align with industry best practices.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior SOC analysts, enhancing their skills in incident detection and response.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to security incidents, investigations, and response actions for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Perform threat hunting activities to proactively identify and mitigate potential security risks before they escalate.
- Engage in continuous improvement of SOC processes and technologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to ensure the SOC remains at the forefront of the industry.
- Participate in post-incident reviews to analyze the effectiveness of the response and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to share intelligence and improve incident response capabilities.
- Assist in the development of incident response plans and playbooks tailored to specific threats and vulnerabilities.
- Provide expert-level support during security incidents, acting as a point of escalation for complex issues.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment, with a focus on incident response and threat analysis.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices, including NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS controls.
- Proficiency in using security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and threat intelligence platforms.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis tasks.
- Familiarity with network protocols, operating systems, and common vulnerabilities and exploits.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GIAC are highly desirable.
- Experience with cloud security and familiarity with platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, or HIPAA.
- Previous experience in a consulting or client-facing role is a plus.
