What you'll do
- Monitor and analyze security alerts and incidents to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities in client systems.
- Assist in the investigation of security breaches and incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to ensure systems are secure against emerging threats.
- Collaborate with senior analysts to develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices tailored to client needs.
- Maintain and update security documentation, including incident reports, security policies, and compliance records.
- Participate in security awareness training sessions for clients and internal staff to promote best practices in cyber hygiene.
- Utilize security tools and technologies to enhance the organization's security posture, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Stay informed about the latest cyber security trends, threats, and technologies to provide clients with up-to-date advice and solutions.
- Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal disruption in case of a security incident.
- Work closely with IT teams to ensure that security measures are integrated into all aspects of the organization's operations.
- Provide support during audits and assessments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Contribute to team projects and initiatives aimed at improving overall security practices and enhancing client satisfaction.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a cyber security role, internships or relevant coursework may be considered.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS.
- Basic understanding of network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development in the field of cyber security.
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate.
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ for scripting and automation tasks.
- Familiarity with cloud security principles and technologies, particularly in AWS or Azure environments.
- Experience with incident response and forensic analysis methodologies.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using security tools such as antivirus software, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools like Nessus, Qualys, or OpenVAS.
- Understanding of network security concepts and practices.
- Ability to work with various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Knowledge of data encryption techniques and secure coding practices.
