About the role
In this position, you will take charge of customer research and strategic direction for the IFS Copperleaf Asset Investment Planning platform, which serves over 140 enterprise clients in sectors such as electric utilities, water and wastewater, natural gas, and transportation. The demand for effective capital planning has grown due to challenges like outdated infrastructure and regulatory requirements. Our platform assists these operators in modeling investment options, optimizing capital distribution, and making informed decisions efficiently.

What you'll do
- Lead customer research and collaborative development with over 140 enterprise accounts in asset-intensive sectors, focusing on understanding their workflows and capital planning needs.
- Travel 25% of the time to engage with customers across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, validating solutions in real-world scenarios.
- Participate in regional and global user summits and IFS Connect events to collect feedback, confirm product direction, and strengthen client relationships.
- Collaborate with our partner network, including systems integrators and consultants, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support for our platform.
- Work closely with Design and UX teams to create intuitive features that address real challenges faced by regulated utilities.
- Manage the commercial and strategic aspects of your product area, including market analysis, competitive positioning, and financial projections.
- Convert customer and partner insights into a prioritized, outcome-focused roadmap that aligns with business objectives and market opportunities.
- Establish clear, testable requirements and acceptance criteria informed by customer feedback.
- Prepare for market launches through tailored positioning, sales strategies, partner training, and customer success initiatives suited to the lengthy sales cycles of utilities.
- Ensure commitments are met on time, maintain quality standards, and make informed decisions regarding product releases.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of experience in product management within B2B enterprise software, depending on your career level.
- Proven ability in customer discovery and collaborative development, with a comfort level working closely with clients.
- Strong teamwork skills with Design and UX teams, showcasing experience in user-focused product development.
- Understanding of regulated, asset-intensive sectors or the capability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Familiarity with lengthy enterprise sales cycles (12-24 months) and the complexities of stakeholder management in regulated organizations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficient in financial modeling, market analysis, and developing business cases.
- Experience with agile development practices.
- Willingness to travel 25% for customer interactions and conferences in various global regions.
- Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams across different time zones.
Nice to have
- A university degree or equivalent qualifications in engineering, business, or a related technical field.
- Direct experience in utilities, infrastructure, or asset-intensive industries in product management, strategy, or client-facing roles.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (FERC, EPA, Ofgem, AEMO) or asset lifecycle management.
- Background in financial modeling, capital planning, or ROI analysis within enterprise environments.
- Experience presenting at user conferences or leading customer advisory boards.
- Experience working with partner networks, systems integrators, or channel partners.
