About the role

This role centers on delivering direct, in-home early intervention services to infants and toddlers who have special needs, requiring a professional who enjoys helping others and is currently seeking fulfillment in their professional life. You will function independently and autonomously while coordinating your schedule to plan and conduct home visits within Santa Clara County. A core part of this position involves building and maintaining strong rapport with all family members assigned to your caseload and working collaboratively with team members, Regional Center partners, physicians, and outside agencies. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments across five major developmental domains and maintaining accurate treatment records and documentation as required. This position also requires you to act as a mandated abuse reporter and to participate in monthly staff meetings, where you may provide input and deliver in-service trainings as assigned. Success in this role is defined by your ability to establish clear goals and provide updated developmental information during scheduled IFSP and IEP meetings while sustaining a productivity level of 75% based on weekly billable hours.

What you'll do

• Build and sustain positive, trusting relationships with all family members assigned to your caseload.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including Regional Center staff, physicians, and community agencies to address developmental and health-related concerns.
• Participate actively in monthly staff meetings, offering input and delivering in-service training sessions when assigned.
• Act as a mandated reporter for abuse and neglect, adhering to all legal and organizational protocols.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the overall efficiency and continuity of the program.
• Travel within the community to provide services, adapting to varying environmental conditions as needed.
• Utilize critical thinking and organizational skills to manage cases, prioritize tasks, and maintain detailed records.
• Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and task management to meet the evolving needs of children and families.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in the field of Child Development, Human Development, or a related field. You must also have received specialized training in early intervention and meet the competencies outlined under Early Intervention Personnel Standards, along with one year of experience working with infants and toddlers in the Early Intervention arena. A Master's degree in Special Education and bilingual capabilities are considered a plus for this role. You must possess a strong base of knowledge in both typical developmental patterns of infants and toddlers and atypical development due to disabilities or risk factors. You should be able to use evaluation and assessment practices that are appropriate for this population and interpret the results accurately and appropriately. Basic computer skills in word processing are required, as is the ability to utilize critical thinking skills in decision-making situations and to organize and keep reports. You must be able to be flexible with scheduling and prioritizing tasks to meet program demands. Successful candidates must also obtain CPR and First Aid certification.

Practical notes

This is a full-time position based in Santa Clara County, with considerable travel required in the community, primarily performing work in client homes. The role may involve exposure to outdoor conditions such as dust and pollens, as well as periods of intense concentration and computer work. Lifting, moving, stretching, walking, and crawling during training activities with the child and family may be required. Applicants must be able to commute to San Jose, CA, and meet all local and state requirements for working in the field of early intervention.
