About the role
You will own the vision and execution of Customer Studio, the composable no-code engine that powers audience activation for enterprise marketing teams. You will partner with product leadership to translate business goals into a technical roadmap that balances speed, reliability, and long-term platform health. You will architect guardrails that enable rapid experimentation while protecting data integrity and brand consistency across all campaigns. You will mentor engineers to elevate technical standards and foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, and ruthless prioritization. You will act as the primary liaison between engineering, design, and customer-facing teams to ensure delivered solutions solve real user problems. You will drive incident response and reliability initiatives to ensure the platform meets strict uptime and performance commitments. You will evaluate emerging technologies in the data and AI space to identify opportunities for differentiation and automation. You will champion diversity of thought and psychological safety to build a team that delivers ambitious outcomes sustainably.

What you'll do
Define and drive the product strategy for Customer Studios, aligning roadmap decisions with market demand and company objectives.
Architect and evolve the core abstractions that enable non-SQL users to compose data workflows through intuitive visual interfaces.
Lead the design of data transformation primitives, ensuring they are powerful enough for advanced users yet approachable for novices.
Own the reliability and performance of the activation pipeline, setting standards for observability, monitoring, and failure recovery.
Build and scale an engineering organization that can execute complex integrations while maintaining high code quality and velocity.
Collaborate with analytics and data science teams to ensure activation logic is aligned with measurement and experimentation frameworks.
Evaluate and integrate warehouse-native features that unlock new capabilities for real-time and incremental data processing.
Champion accessibility and internationalization so that the studio supports diverse global marketing workflows.
Establish operational playbooks for incident management, on-call rotations, and cross-team coordination.
Proactively identify technical debt and refactor critical paths to improve maintainability and developer ergonomics.
Partner with customer success to surface feedback and translate qualitative insights into prioritized product improvements.
Engage with the security and compliance teams to ensure data handling practices meet enterprise standards.
Mentor engineers through code reviews, career development, and hands-on coaching to raise the bar across the organization.
Explore the intersection of generative AI and data activation, prototyping novel workflows that simplify audience definition and orchestration.
Requirements
Must be a legal citizen, permanent resident, or authorized work holder of the country where the position is based.
Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Must have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a hands-on technical role.
Must have 3+ years of experience managing engineers, including hiring, performance reviews, and career development.
Must have deep experience building and operating backend systems that handle high throughput and large volumes of data.
Must be proficient in writing complex SQL and optimizing queries against large datasets in a data warehouse environment.
Must have a strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling and the implications for analytics workloads.
Must be comfortable working with distributed systems and event-driven architectures in cloud-native environments.
Must demonstrate a track record of making pragmatic tradeoffs between technical excellence and business velocity.
Nice to have
Experience with modern data stack technologies including Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and dbt.
Background building SaaS products that serve non-technical users through intuitive interfaces.
Exposure to marketing technology, customer data platforms, or identity resolution.
Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and feature stores.

This role is full-time (40 hours per week).
This position is remote-based and open to candidates located in North America.
Travel is not required for this role.
