About the role
You will own the full employee lifecycle for your assigned business unit, guiding talent decisions from recruitment to separation with a focus on consistency and fairness. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers, helping them navigate complex people situations while applying HR policies with clarity and empathy. You will leverage data and trends to identify workforce risks and opportunities, proposing actionable solutions that align with business objectives. You will champion the Spirit of Hawai'i in every interaction, ensuring that our values are reflected in how we hire, develop, and recognize team members. You will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to design and implement initiatives that improve engagement, retention, and inclusion. You will serve as a key link between the business and Human Resources, translating strategy into practical steps that teams can act on. You will uphold confidentiality and integrity in all conversations and decisions, modeling the behaviors we expect from our Hosts of Hawai'i. You will continuously seek opportunities to simplify processes, improve the employee experience, and remove barriers that prevent our people from performing at their best.
Key facts
What you'll do
Partner with senior and mid-level managers to interpret business needs and translate them into targeted talent strategies and action plans.
Lead end-to-end recruitment, from sourcing diverse candidates to coordinating interviews and facilitating informed hiring decisions.
Design and deliver onboarding experiences that build connection, clarify expectations, and accelerate time to productivity for new Hosts of Hawai'i.
Own employee relations cases, conducting fair and consistent investigations, documenting findings, and recommending appropriate resolutions.
Manage compensation programs by analyzing market data, evaluating roles, and ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness.
Administer benefits programs, guiding employees through enrollment, changes, and claims while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Support performance management processes, helping managers set goals, deliver feedback, and develop employees through coaching and growth plans.
Maintain accurate HRIS records, ensuring that personnel data is current, secure, and aligned with legal and audit requirements.
Champion learning and development by coordinating training programs that build skills and align with business priorities.
Promote a culture of inclusion and respect, identifying and addressing behaviors or practices that do not align with our values or policies.
Collaborate with Finance and Operations to plan and control HR budgets, tracking expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
Serve as a subject matter expert on employment laws and regulations, ensuring that HR practices in Honolulu meet all applicable requirements.
Drive special projects that improve HR effectiveness, such as process automation, employee surveys, and retention initiatives.
Act as a visible representative of the company culture, participating in events, tastings, and community engagements that reinforce our shared identity.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
Must have the right to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship from Hawaiian Host Group for this position now or in the future.
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Honolulu, HI for this role.
Must have at least three (3) years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience in a people-facing role.
Must demonstrate a solid understanding of employment laws, including but not limited to FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and ADEA.
Must be proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office, with the ability to manage confidential information securely.
Must have experience conducting investigations and resolving complex employee relations matters with discretion.
Must be able to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations.
Must communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with employees at all levels of the organization.
Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Must be willing to adhere to Hawaiian Host Group policies and uphold the standards of conduct expected across the organization.
Must be available to work in Honolulu, HI, with reasonable flexibility to accommodate business needs, including occasional after-hours support.
Must comply with all company guidelines related to health, safety, and wellness in the workplace.
