Content Coordination
Job description
About the role
You own the narrative that defines Harper across every public-facing surface, turning complex insurance expertise into clear, compelling stories that resonate with small business owners and stakeholders. You are the editorial architect of Harper's public identity, responsible for shaping how the company is understood in the market through precise language and consistent quality. This role requires you to translate founder vision and customer reality into structured content programs that build trust and reinforce brand authority over time. You will manage the full lifecycle of content from discovery to delivery, ensuring that every piece serves the strategic goals of the business. You are expected to operate with the judgment of a senior editor and the ownership of a product owner, catching issues before they reach the audience. Winning in the first year means establishing a durable, on-brand content engine that actively contributes to growth and retention.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end content calendar, planning and managing Harper's blog, email, social, and field marketing assets to maintain a coherent narrative across all touchpoints.
- Write and edit long-form and short-form content with precision, producing high-quality blog posts, customer stories, email copy, and sales enablement materials that meet editorial standards.
- Conduct and translate customer interviews into authentic narratives, extracting insights and turning 30-minute conversations into relatable case studies and testimonials that mirror prospect experiences.
- Enable field marketing by developing on-brand event kits, partnership materials, and sales tools that help Harper show up effectively in live and virtual environments.
- Partner with founders and subject matter experts to shape thought leadership pieces that position Harper as a credible voice in commercial insurance and risk innovation.
- Monitor content performance using engagement, reach, and conversion metrics, then synthesize findings to inform future priorities and resource allocation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with growth, CRM, ABM, and SEO teams to align messaging, track journeys, and ensure content supports pipeline and product feedback loops.
- Maintain brand consistency across formats, balancing tone, structure, and insight so that every asset reinforces Harper's positioning as a modern insurance leader.
- Identify gaps in the story Harper tells to the market and initiate projects that close those gaps through research, writing, and stakeholder alignment.
- Represent Harper in external contexts by preparing materials for PR, partnerships, and community moments that reflect the company's values and ambition.
- Prioritize workstreams based on impact and urgency, managing multiple deadlines without sacrificing clarity, accuracy, or on-brand execution.
- Document processes and standards for content creation and review, enabling other team members to operate efficiently within the system you build.
Requirements
- You are based in San Francisco or are willing to relocate to San Francisco to work on-site.
- You are comfortable with long days and high standards, thriving in an environment where pace and precision are both non-negotiable.
- You have a track record of managing a multi-format content calendar with multiple contributors while keeping stakeholders aligned and deadlines met.
- You can transform a 30-minute customer interview into a concise, emotionally resonant story that feels familiar to prospects.
- You distinguish between content that merely fills a quota and content that builds lasting authority and trust with sophisticated buyers.
- You are highly organized, using systems and tools to track multiple projects at different stages and preventing details from falling through the cracks.
- You have a clearly defined point of view on what good content looks like and the confidence to advocate for it across cross-functional teams.
- You understand that in a growth-stage startup, content is a lever for business outcomes and not just a brand or comms exercise detached from results.
- You are comfortable reporting to the Head of Marketing and collaborating closely with growth, CRM, ABM, and SEO partners in an on-site setting.
Nice to have
- Experience building a content program from the ground up in a fast-scaling commercial insurance or regulated technology environment.
- Familiarity with SEO principles and how they intersect with narrative storytelling in B2B contexts.
- Background in sales enablement or field marketing, with examples of assets that materially supported deal execution.
- Demonstrated ability to quantify content impact using engagement, pipeline, or retention signals.
- Experience working with founders to translate complex ideas into accessible thought leadership.
