Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist in the development and implementation of VDC strategies for various construction projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Collaborate with project teams to create and maintain 3D models using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, enhancing project visualization and coordination.
- Participate in the preparation of project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, to support the construction process.
- Conduct clash detection analyses to identify and resolve potential conflicts in the design before construction begins, improving project efficiency.
- Support the integration of VDC tools and technologies into project workflows, promoting best practices and innovative solutions.
- Attend project meetings and contribute to discussions regarding VDC implementation, providing insights and feedback based on your observations.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members on VDC software and processes, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Conduct research on emerging VDC trends and technologies, presenting findings to the team to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Help maintain project schedules and budgets by tracking progress and reporting on key performance indicators related to VDC activities.
- Engage with stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Document lessons learned and best practices from VDC projects to contribute to the company's knowledge base and improve future initiatives.
- Support other project-related tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or similar tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with team members.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality work and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive attitude.
Nice to have
- Previous internship or co-op experience in the construction or architecture industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction processes, project management principles, and VDC methodologies.
- Experience with visualization tools or software, such as SketchUp or Lumion, to enhance project presentations.
- Familiarity with coding or scripting languages related to BIM automation, such as Python or Dynamo.
- Understanding of sustainability practices and green building principles in the construction industry.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Experience with project management software, such as Procore or Microsoft Project, to assist in tracking project progress.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications to facilitate effective communication with project teams.
