What you'll do

• Lead and manage daily operations of water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety in water and wastewater processes.
• Supervise and mentor a team of skilled technicians and operators, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules and oversee repair activities to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
• Monitor facility performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with engineering and environmental teams to plan and execute capital improvement projects.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, ensuring timely communication and compliance with all reporting requirements.
• Manage budgets and financial resources effectively, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
• Facilitate training programs for staff on best practices, safety protocols, and new technologies in water and wastewater management.
• Engage with the community and stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of water and wastewater issues.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of the field.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in water and wastewater operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, regulations, and best practices.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies, community members, and team members.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice to have

• Professional certification in water or wastewater management (e.g., Grade II or higher).
• Experience with SCADA systems and other advanced monitoring technologies.
• Familiarity with budget management and financial oversight in a municipal or utility setting.
• Previous experience in project management related to water or wastewater infrastructure improvements.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
• Knowledge of hydraulic modeling and water quality analysis tools.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical skills to assess facility performance and identify areas for improvement.
