Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist the Superintendent in managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets, reporting any discrepancies to the Superintendent and suggesting corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines, documenting progress and identifying areas for improvement.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates on site conditions, progress, and any potential risks that could impact project delivery.
- Support the Superintendent in maintaining accurate project documentation, including daily logs, safety reports, and progress photographs.
- Assist in training and supervising field personnel, fostering a culture of safety and teamwork among all workers on-site.
- Collaborate with the project management team to develop and implement effective strategies for resource allocation and scheduling.
- Ensure that all materials and equipment are available on-site as needed, coordinating with procurement teams to manage inventory levels.
- Address any on-site conflicts or issues promptly and effectively, maintaining a positive working environment for all team members.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices within the construction team, sharing insights and lessons learned from each project.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, seeking opportunities for professional development and growth within the company.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management or a related field, with a strong understanding of building processes and techniques.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role, demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the capacity to think critically and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Familiarity with construction management software and tools, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as required.
Nice to have
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certification from a recognized construction or safety organization (e.g., OSHA, PMP) would be advantageous.
- Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction techniques is a plus.
Skills & tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, including scheduling and budgeting applications.
- Strong negotiation skills to manage contracts and agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.
