What you'll do
- Lead and manage multiple commercial construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to develop project plans and schedules that align with client expectations.
- Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
- Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address any issues that may arise during construction.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, change orders, and progress updates for stakeholders.
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, safety, and open communication among all project team members.
- Resolve conflicts and challenges that may occur during the construction process, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and subcontractors, enhancing their skills and knowledge in commercial construction practices.
- Implement best practices in project management and construction methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Engage with clients to provide updates on project status and address any concerns or changes in project scope.
- Ensure all projects are completed to the satisfaction of clients, maintaining Harpergc's reputation for quality and reliability in the commercial construction sector.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction management or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and building codes.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Experience with sustainable building practices and LEED certification processes.
- Familiarity with contract negotiation and management.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a commercial construction environment.
- Certifications such as OSHA 30-hour, PMP, or similar credentials are advantageous.
