Harbordesignsmanufacturing is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager or Director of Finance to lead our financial operations in Baltimore, Maryland. What you'll do

Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing insights into financial performance and variance analysis to senior management.
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and maintain internal controls.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Manage cash flow and working capital, optimizing liquidity while minimizing financial risk.
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, including cost analysis, pricing strategies, and profitability assessments.
Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of all audit requirements.
Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in finance and accounting to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
Prepare tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
Implement and manage financial software systems to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting capabilities.
Act as a key advisor to the executive team on financial matters, providing insights and recommendations to drive business performance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA designation is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations, with a proven track record of compliance and risk management.
Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; experience with [specific software used by the company] is a plus.
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Nice to have

Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in a design or production environment.

Knowledge of tax planning strategies and experience with tax compliance.
Certification in financial management or related fields (e.g., CMA, CFA) is advantageous.
Experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis.

Skills & tools

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of financial reporting tools and dashboards.
Ability to utilize data visualization tools to present financial data effectively.
