What you'll do
- Design and develop complex printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Altium Designer, ensuring high-quality and manufacturable designs.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to define specifications and requirements for new PCB designs, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for PCB designs, including schematics, layout files, and assembly instructions.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of PCB prototypes, troubleshooting any issues that arise during the development process.
- Work with firmware engineers to integrate software and hardware components, ensuring seamless functionality of the final product.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to enhance design quality and performance.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in PCB design and firmware development, applying best practices to your work.
- Assist in the selection of components and materials for PCB fabrication, considering factors such as cost, availability, and performance.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are optimized for production, addressing any manufacturing challenges that may arise.
- Support the development of test plans and procedures for validating PCB performance, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing your expertise in PCB design and firmware development to foster a culture of learning and growth.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team, identifying areas for process enhancement and efficiency gains.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in PCB design, specifically using Altium Designer.
- Strong understanding of electronic components and their applications in circuit design.
- Proficiency in firmware development, with experience in programming languages such as C or C++.
- Familiarity with industry standards for PCB design and manufacturing, including IPC standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with simulation tools and methodologies for validating PCB designs.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to electronic products, such as FCC and CE compliance.
Nice to have
- Experience with other PCB design tools, such as Eagle or KiCAD, in addition to Altium Designer.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in electronics production.
- Understanding of signal integrity and power integrity analysis techniques.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Altium Designer for PCB layout and schematic capture.
- Familiarity with firmware development environments and debugging tools.
- Knowledge of electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git, for managing design files.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in design and testing processes.
