About the role
You will own the end-to-end media billing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for all media operations. You will lead vendor financial management and oversee the out-of-pocket expense framework across global media teams. This role requires you to act as the central coordination point for media out-of-pocket expenses, driving consistency and compliance. You will partner closely with the Media Operations Director to align financial processes with strategic objectives. You will ensure scalability of financial operations in support of a growing and diverse client portfolio. You will work cross-functionally with finance, media, and client stakeholders to resolve complex billing and cost allocation issues. You will implement and maintain controls that safeguard the integrity of media financial data. You will contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and transparency in media financial operations.
Key facts
What you'll do
Provide end-to-end ownership of the media billing process, from invoice generation to payment run coordination.
Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders on all matters related to media billing and vendor finance.
Oversee the management of out-of-pocket expenses, ensuring adherence to Avalere Health policies and regulatory requirements.
Lead reconciliations of media vendor statements, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
Drive standardization of financial processes across media agencies to ensure consistency and compliance.
Collaborate with finance partners to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for media expenditures.
Partner with the Media Operations Director to develop and implement controls that enhance the accuracy of financial reporting.
Coordinate with client teams to resolve billing inquiries and support transparent cost allocation.
Support the evaluation and onboarding of new media vendors, including financial documentation and terms validation.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of media financial operations through automation and process optimization initiatives.
Maintain detailed documentation of billing procedures and financial controls to support audits and internal reviews.
Act as a subject matter expert for media finance topics, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders.
Monitor key financial metrics related to media spending and vendor performance, escalating trends as needed.
Participate in special projects related to media financial strategy, system enhancements, and cross-business initiatives.
Requirements
You must have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
You must possess a minimum of five years of progressive experience in media, agency, or advertising finance roles.
You must have demonstrable experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing accounts payable processes.
You must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as they apply to media billing.
You must be proficient in advanced Excel, including the use of complex formulas and data reconciliation.
You must have experience with media billing platforms or financial systems relevant to the advertising industry.
You must have a proven track record of managing out-of-pocket expenses and ensuring policy compliance.
You must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with senior stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience within the healthcare or life sciences sectors is preferred.
Familiarity with Avalere Health's specific media operations and client services models.
Experience working in a global or multi-entity environment.
Knowledge of Avalere Health's internal systems and reporting tools.

The role may involve hybrid work arrangements, with flexibility between in-office and remote work based on team and client needs.
