About the role
You own the end-to-end sales cycle within the Central Kentucky territory, driving new business and ensuring long-term customer success for Halter's virtual fencing technology. You are the primary on-the-ground representative, translating our mission of sustainable and productive grazing operations into tangible results for farmers and graziers. Your daily focus involves optimizing field performance, building deep relationships, and acting as the critical link between customer needs and Halter's product innovation. You will actively prospect new accounts, execute in-field sales demonstrations, and expand existing opportunities through strategic relationship management. This role requires a proactive, hands-on approach where you solve challenging problems alongside a high-performance team dedicated to revolutionizing the industry. You will frequently be out in the elements, whether on horseback, engaging directly with cattle, or attending key industry events to represent Halter and gather vital market insights.

What you'll do
Prospect and develop new business within the Central Kentucky territory through active outbound lead generation and cultivating relationships at local cattle auctions and industry gatherings.
Execute in-field sales strategies by demonstrating Halter's technology directly on ranches, utilizing coffee meetings at kitchen tables or conversations during cattle handling to showcase product value.
Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships by acting as a trusted advisor, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and successful adoption of Halter's virtual fencing systems.
Drive expansion opportunities with existing customers by identifying new use cases and increasing the value derived from Halter's technology over time.
Attend and represent Halter at key industry events such as CattleCon and local Livestock Association meetups to generate leads and strengthen market presence.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Support, and Customer Onboarding to relay field insights and influence product development.
Maintain disciplined pipeline management by proactively qualifying leads, unqualifying unsuitable opportunities, and focusing efforts on high-potential deals.
Optimize daily field activities to ensure performance targets are met while balancing administrative tasks with in-person customer engagements.
Provide timely follow-up and support to customers, ensuring their experience with Halter is positive and reinforcing the company's commitment to meaningful work.
Act as Halter's boots-on-the-ground expert, using real-world interactions to gather data and feedback that shapes the future of the technology.
Requirements
You possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field such as agriculture, business, or a related discipline.
You have a proven track record of success in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role, demonstrating the ability to manage complex pipelines.
You hold a valid driver's license and are willing to maintain a clean driving record due to the territory's travel requirements.
You are legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, as the role requires immediate start and full autonomy in the field.
You have the physical capability to perform outdoor duties, including extended periods of standing, walking, and interacting with livestock in varied weather conditions.
You are comfortable using technology such as CRM platforms, communication tools, and mobile applications to manage customer data and sales activities.
You have strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to articulate Halter's value proposition to diverse audiences effectively.
You exhibit a high level of professionalism, integrity, and resilience, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Nice to have
Experience in the agriculture, livestock, or rural technology sectors, with an understanding of farming operations and grazing management.
Familiarity with virtual fencing concepts or precision agriculture technology, demonstrating an ability to learn complex products quickly.
An existing network within Kentucky agricultural communities, including connections with local Livestock or Cattle Associations.
Practical notes
This role is full-time and requires frequent travel throughout the Central Kentucky region as part of territory coverage.
Work hours are aligned with standard business expectations, including evenings and weekends for event attendance and customer meetings as needed.
