Materials Planner

About the role

You will own the end to end material planning function for GTI's custom enclosure and skid fabrication operations in Goodyear Arizona ensuring that production schedules are supported by accurate material availability and inventory positioning. You will analyze demand signals, translate customer delivery requirements into actionable material plans, and coordinate with cross functional teams to resolve discrepancies between procurement, production, and engineering. This role requires you to monitor material shortfalls, drive corrective actions, and maintain data integrity in the ERP system so that production can flow smoothly without unnecessary delays. You will interface directly with procurement, manufacturing operations, and supply chain partners to validate lead times, manage changeovers, and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on speed and agility. The Materials Planner is expected to work in a fast moving environment where priorities shift quickly and you must adapt using clear analysis and decisive communication. You will contribute directly to customer satisfaction by ensuring the right materials are staged and ready for fabrication, assembly, and final delivery. This position is a critical control point in our turn key value chain influencing both operational efficiency and the reliability of our delivery performance.

What you'll do

Analyze the master production schedule and material requirements plans to confirm material coverage, identify gaps, and escalate risks before they impact production flow.

Perform detailed shortage analysis, categorize material status by priority, and coordinate with procurement and vendors to expedite long lead items or alternative solutions.

Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system, validate receipts, issue materials to work orders, and reconcile variances to ensure data integrity supports reliable planning.

Collaborate with manufacturing operations to align material release with production sequencing, manage change notices, and support smooth transitions between prototype and production runs.

Monitor supplier performance metrics, evaluate lead time reliability, and provide input to demand forecasts and capacity plans that influence operational decisions.

Support engineering changes, bill of materials updates, and configuration shifts by verifying material impacts, updating routings, and communicating revisions to relevant teams.

Track scrap, rework, and yield variances, then partner with operations to implement corrective actions that improve material utilization and reduce waste.

Perform periodic cycle counts, reconcile physical inventory to system records, and assist with internal and external inventory audits to validate planning accuracy.

Develop and maintain reports on material health, inventory turns, and coverage, presenting insights to leadership for continuous improvement and resource allocation.

Serve as the primary interface between procurement and production, facilitating rapid resolution of issues related to part availability, substitutions, and quality concerns.

Apply analytical methods to assess demand patterns, seasonality, and project driven variability, adjusting plans as new information becomes available.

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and customer specific requirements in all material handling, storage, and issuance activities.

Support continuous improvement projects by evaluating material flow, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending process enhancements that increase agility.

Assist in special projects such as cost analysis, supplier evaluations, and strategic sourcing initiatives that require detailed material and cost data.

Requirements

You must possess strong analytical capability and be able to interpret data, resolve discrepancies, and make informed decisions in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with ERP systems is required, with demonstrated ability to navigate material planning modules, run reports, and maintain accurate records.

You must have a background supporting manufacturing, industrial, or engineered product environments where material traceability and production control are essential.

Reliability is essential, and you must be able to adhere to established processes while managing multiple priorities in a fast paced setting.

Strong attention to detail is required to ensure material records, bills of materials, and production data are accurate and support timely execution.

You must be comfortable working cross functionally with procurement, engineering, and operations to resolve issues and align on actions.

Effective communication skills are necessary to explain material status, shortages, and planning decisions to both technical and non technical stakeholders.

You must be willing to adapt to changing priorities, support shift based operations as needed, and respond quickly to production and customer demands.

Nice to have

Preferred experience in renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, or industrial systems markets.

Familiarity with fabrication, mechanical assembly, and electrical integration processes common to custom enclosures and skids.

Understanding of GTI's values around safety, quality, customer obsession, speed, and agility.

Practical notes

This is a full time position based in Goodyear, Arizona.

The role may require shift work, including nights and weekends, to support production coverage and respond to material issues in real time.
