About the role
The CNC Machinist shapes metal for test parts and manages setup on vertical and horizontal mills, turning centers, and EDM equipment. The role involves daily decision making at the machine and during inspection. The machinist maintains fixture accuracy and supports mechanical testing on metallic specimens.

Engagement: Full-time with shift availability and overtime as needed
Compensation: Pay ranges from $23.00 to $38.00 per hour based on level
What you will do
Operating horizontal and vertical spindle CNC mills with steady focus.
Setting up tooling and fixtures for tensile and fracture toughness specimen work.
Inspecting parts using dial indicators, bore gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
Guiding test lab needs by machining metallic samples to strict engineering prints.
Maintaining production machinery through routine checks and minor repairs.
Reading GD&T symbols, flag notes, and general notes on aerospace job orders.
Collaborating across multiple teams to complete cross discipline projects on schedule.
Running CAM software such as FeatureCAM to prepare toolpaths for difficult materials.
Requirements
You hold a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
You have one year of professional experience running CNC vertical milling centers, CNC turning centers, or wire EDM.
You can interpret engineering drawings and apply feature control frame logic.
You are able to lift 30 lbs unassisted and no more than 50 lbs regularly.
You are able to work 1st or 2nd shift including overtime and some weekends.
You are able to travel for short trips when project needs require it.
You are able to wear required PPE for machine shop and mechanical testing areas.
You stand, bend, grasp, sit, push, pull, stoop, and stretch through the full shift.
Nice to have
Two years of machining test specimen parts in a lab environment.
Comfort using precision measurement tools for tight tolerance checks.
Experience with Fanuc or Sodick machine tool controls in production settings.
Understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for aerospace features.
Working collaboratively with several teams to hit demanding project timelines.
Using Mastercam, Esprit, or Fusion 360 with FeatureCAM for complex parts.
Strong communication that helps the team achieve demanding company goals.

Compensation and benefits
Base pay is one component of a broader total rewards package. Depending on qualifications, pay levels range from $23.00 to $38.00 per hour. Actual level and base salary are determined on a case by case basis, considering job related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Employees may be eligible for long term incentives such as company stock or long term cash awards, along with potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
