Systems Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will hold full ownership of mission software lifecycles for national clients operating within the Mission Management sphere, ensuring that every phase from concept to operations meets stringent standards. You will drive test strategy and perform deep root cause analysis to isolate faults, then design and validate integration threads that connect complex system-of-systems architectures. The role requires autonomous execution within high-performing team environments while ensuring strict alignment across technical and civilian stakeholders. Success in this position depends on clear communication, adaptability to evolving requirements, and a proactive approach to process improvement and documentation. You will be a central figure in maintaining continuity and coherence across critical mission systems.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Translate solution epics into actionable acceptance criteria, defining detailed test cases and mission threads that govern national system behaviors.
- Conduct rigorous engineering investigations to isolate root causes of complex issues and prescribe corrective measures that restore system integrity.
- Map dependencies and risks across applications and interfaces to preserve end-to-end interface integrity and ensure continuity of operations.
- Champion expertise in system interfaces by documenting key integration points, data flows, and handoffs for consumption by both technical and non-technical team members.
- Maintain consistency across multiple applications through rigorous standards, best practices, and repeatable verification methods.
- Author technical design documentation and test plans that provide clear guidance for multi-system integration efforts and validation activities.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies - including planning, daily stand-ups, iteration reviews, and retrospectives - to contribute to team objectives and delivery predictability.
- Build transparent collaboration with clients and partners, operating within a team-first culture that emphasizes shared responsibility and mutual support.
- Identify workflow improvements that enhance team efficacy, streamline processes, and strengthen the overall capability of mission execution.
- Support the implementation of test environments, data sets, and simulation tools that replicate realistic mission conditions for validation purposes.
- Verify that system integrations meet documented requirements and regulatory standards through methodical validation and traceability activities.
- Facilitate communication between engineering, operations, and oversight groups to ensure alignment on priorities, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Track and report on integration status, highlighting dependencies, anomalies, and progress against established milestones and delivery schedules.
- Contribute to the development of reusable assets, including test procedures, checklists, and guidance, to improve consistency across future missions.
- Act as a technical liaison for cross-functional initiatives, ensuring that integration decisions reflect both operational needs and engineering constraints.
