UI Front End Software Engineer
Job description
About the Role
Grvty seeks a UI Front End Software Engineer to own CODEX interfaces within agile environments while mentoring peers and defining front end standards. The role requires translating design concepts into accessible user flows and debugging integrations alongside system engineers. This position operates in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, under a mission-critical engagement requiring TS/SCI + Poly clearance. The hire will be responsible for crafting robust, high-performance user interfaces that directly support critical defense-related operations. Success in this position hinges on the ability to balance rigorous technical standards with rapid delivery in a sensitive government context. You will serve as a key technical contributor and leader, shaping the direction of front end architecture for vital systems. Your work will ensure that complex backend services are presented through intuitive, reliable, and secure web interfaces. This role demands a self-starter capable of operating with minimal supervision while maintaining strict adherence to compliance and security protocols.
Key Facts
What you'll do
- Translate intricate design systems and wireframes into semantic, responsive HTML, CSS, and JavaScript implementations that meet strict performance and accessibility benchmarks.
- Engineer and maintain reusable component libraries using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue to ensure consistency and accelerate development velocity across the engineering organization.
- Partner with systems engineers and backend developers to integrate complex APIs, troubleshoot data flow issues, and optimize the efficiency of client-server communication.
- Implement sophisticated algorithms and real-time data visualization techniques to handle high-volume, data-intensive user interactions without compromising speed or reliability.
- Conduct in-depth code reviews focused on best practices, scalability, and security, providing clear, actionable feedback to elevate the overall quality of the team's output.
- Author comprehensive technical documentation and test results, ensuring that all implementation details are recorded for future maintenance and audit purposes.
- Deploy user-facing interfaces to production environments using robust CI/CD pipelines, with a constant focus on maintaining zero-downtime releases and rollback strategies.
- Champion the adoption of standardized front end workflows, tooling, and architectural patterns to reduce technical debt and improve long-term maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with analytics teams to instrument and refine data-driven user journeys, validating hypotheses and iterating based on empirical evidence.
- Assume ownership of sprint planning sessions and technical decision-making processes, guiding the team toward optimal solutions for complex user experience challenges.
- Contribute to full-stack initiatives as needed, bridging the gap between frontend components and backend services, database interactions, and deployment infrastructure.
- Ensure all delivered solutions comply with federal accessibility regulations (WCAG) and are rigorously tested across multiple browsers and devices.
