About the role
The Direct Buyer is responsible for managing the complete intake cycle for a specific portfolio. This involves shaping the procurement strategy from initial concept through to market launch. The role translates market forecasts into concrete inventory plans while maintaining attention to profitability and cost control.
You will set the strategic direction for categories such as smart home devices, televisions, and audio equipment. This includes analyzing market dynamics and adjusting sourcing plans accordingly. You will define supplier structures and negotiate binding purchase orders to meet demand forecasts and financial targets. Close coordination with logistics and finance teams is necessary to validate forecasts, lead times, and inventory risk management.
A significant part of the role involves identifying and pursuing B-stock and clearance opportunities. These activities help recover value, reduce electronic waste, and support the circular business model. You will also engage with partners at trade fairs to evaluate new devices and secure early access to products. This input is used to guide internal product teams regarding availability constraints and realistic launch schedules. The role requires maintaining detailed records of price performance, sales velocity, and quota achievement for each category. Collaboration with compliance functions ensures that all documentation is valid and that the company is protected legally.
Requirements
The candidate must possess two to five years of experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain roles. Professional experience within e-commerce or technology sectors is preferred. You must be able to communicate confidently with original equipment manufacturers. Challenging assumptions and negotiating terms are expected parts of the role.
Strong comfort with spreadsheets and data analysis is essential. You must be able to track performance indicators and assess risk using quantitative information. Fluency in the English language is a mandatory requirement. Proficiency in German at a B2 level is considered a significant advantage.
You need to be highly organized to manage several workstreams simultaneously without overlooking details. The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines is critical. A structured approach to problem-solving and documentation is expected.

Compensation and benefits
The position offers a fixed annual compensation ranging from 45,000 to 55,000 EUR. The role is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week. The work location is primarily Berlin, with a hybrid model involving three days per week at the headquarters on Tuesday through Thursday.
