About the role

As a Structural Erection Specialist at Bamboohr, you will play a pivotal role in the construction and assembly of structural components for our mining projects. Your expertise will ensure that all structures are erected safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate closely with various teams to facilitate smooth operations and contribute to the successful completion of projects in a timely manner. This position is based in Georgetown, Georgetown, and is a fixed-term engagement focused on the Oko West project.

What you'll do

• Oversee the erection of structural components, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and engineering specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other specialists to develop and implement erection plans that align with project timelines.
• Conduct regular inspections of materials and equipment to ensure they meet safety and quality standards before and during the erection process.
• Lead a team of construction workers, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality workmanship.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the erection process, minimizing delays and maintaining project schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily logs, material usage, and any incidents or accidents that occur on-site.
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety and compliance among all team members.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment necessary for the erection process.
• Implement best practices for structural erection, continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs without compromising quality.
• Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with local regulations and industry standards, including environmental considerations.
• Assist in the preparation of project reports and documentation, providing updates on progress and any challenges faced during the erection phase.
• Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication among all personnel involved in the project.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural erection or a related field, preferably within the mining or construction industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing structural erection projects from inception to completion.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations related to structural work.
• Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with various stakeholders.
• Familiarity with relevant software tools for project management and reporting.
• Ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to changing project conditions.

Nice to have

• Certification in safety management or construction safety practices.
• Experience with heavy machinery and rigging operations.
• Knowledge of environmental management practices in construction.
• Previous experience working in remote locations or on international projects.
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in English and Spanish, are a plus.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in the use of construction tools and equipment, including cranes, hoists, and scaffolding systems.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools for scheduling and tracking progress.
• Strong understanding of safety management systems and compliance requirements.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting purposes.
