About the role
Bamboohr is seeking a dedicated Scaffolder to join our team at the Oko West project in Georgetown, Georgetown. This fixed-term position is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our construction and maintenance activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for erecting and dismantling scaffolding structures that support various operations within the mining sector. As a key player in our project, you will work closely with other tradespeople and project managers to maintain high standards of safety and quality.

What you'll do
- Construct, assemble, and dismantle scaffolding systems according to project specifications and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and project managers to determine scaffolding needs for various tasks and ensure timely completion.
- Conduct regular inspections of scaffolding structures to identify any potential hazards or maintenance needs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Utilize a variety of scaffolding materials and equipment, including tubes, boards, and clamps, to create safe working platforms for construction teams.
- Train and mentor junior scaffolders and laborers on best practices and safety protocols related to scaffolding.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all tools and materials are stored safely when not in use.
- Assist in the preparation of scaffolding layouts and designs, taking into account the specific requirements of each project phase.
- Respond promptly to any safety incidents or emergencies on-site, following established protocols to mitigate risks and ensure worker safety.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on industry standards and company policies.
- Document daily activities and report any issues or concerns to the site supervisor for immediate attention.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies regarding health and safety practices.
- Work flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines and accommodate changing site conditions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a scaffolder, with a minimum of 3 years in the construction or mining industry.
- Valid scaffolding certification and relevant safety training, such as First Aid and CPR.
- Strong understanding of scaffolding techniques, materials, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing site environments.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the job site.
Nice to have
- Experience with specialized scaffolding systems, such as suspended or modular scaffolding.
- Previous experience in the mining sector, particularly in remote or challenging environments.
- Knowledge of additional construction trades, such as carpentry or plumbing, is a plus.
- Familiarity with safety management systems and risk assessment procedures.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in the use of scaffolding tools and equipment, including power tools, hand tools, and safety gear.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Familiarity with construction software and project management tools is an advantage.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes.
