What you'll do

• Conduct thorough geological assessments and analyses to inform mining strategies and operational planning.
• Develop and implement mine plans that optimize resource extraction while minimizing environmental impact.
• Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, and other engineers to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation for effective decision-making.
• Monitor and evaluate mining operations to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance productivity.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards throughout all phases of mining operations.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on mining activities, progress, and performance metrics for management review.
• Utilize advanced mining software and tools to model and simulate mining scenarios, aiding in strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Participate in the training and development of junior engineers and other team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Engage with local communities and stakeholders to address concerns and promote sustainable mining practices.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to mining operations, ensuring financial objectives are met.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential challenges in the mining process.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in mining technology to ensure Bamboohr remains at the forefront of innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in mining engineering, with a focus on gold mining operations preferred.
• Strong understanding of mining software applications, such as Surpac, MineSight, or similar tools.
• Proven experience in mine planning, design, and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance in the mining sector.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Willingness to work in remote locations and adapt to changing work conditions.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or equivalent certification.
• Experience with open-pit mining operations and associated technologies.
• Knowledge of community engagement practices and sustainable mining initiatives.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
• Previous experience working in South America or similar geographical regions.
• Additional certifications in safety or environmental management.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in mining engineering software (e.g., Surpac, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
