About the role
Bamboohr is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team at the Oko West site in Georgetown. This fixed-term position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our mining equipment. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for ensuring that machinery operates efficiently, contributing to the overall productivity and safety of our operations.

What you'll do
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on various types of mining equipment, including crushers, conveyors, and grinding mills, to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs on-site to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify areas for improvement in equipment reliability and performance.
- Install new machinery and equipment, ensuring that all installations comply with safety standards and operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to support compliance and reporting requirements.
- Assist in the training and development of junior maintenance staff, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
- Participate in safety audits and initiatives, promoting a culture of safety within the workplace.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments to align and calibrate equipment, ensuring proper functioning and longevity of machinery.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, performing necessary repairs and maintenance to ensure efficient operation.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, employing problem-solving skills to restore equipment functionality as quickly as possible.
- Implement preventative maintenance schedules to reduce the likelihood of equipment failures and extend the lifespan of machinery.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas and solutions to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Millwright or in a similar role within the mining or heavy industrial sector, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics related to machinery and equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a mining environment, with a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose mechanical issues quickly and effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid Millwright certification or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an asset.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a mining operation or similar industrial setting.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques to assist with repairs and modifications.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software for maintenance tracking and reporting.
- Additional certifications related to safety, such as First Aid or CPR, are beneficial.
- Experience in training or mentoring junior staff members.

- Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and laser alignment tools.
