What you'll do

• Design, develop, and implement instrumentation systems for various mining processes, ensuring they meet operational requirements and industry standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of existing instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate instrumentation systems with other engineering disciplines, enhancing overall project efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation-related issues, providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including specifications, procedures, and reports related to instrumentation systems.
• Participate in the development and execution of testing protocols for new instrumentation equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Monitor and analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in instrumentation technology, recommending innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in the execution of instrumentation projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sectors.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, and control systems.
• Proficiency in using industry-standard software for instrumentation design and analysis.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing instrumentation in mining operations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship in engineering practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation and control systems, including PLCs and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques for performance monitoring and optimization.
• Previous experience in project management or leading engineering teams.
• Certification in relevant engineering disciplines or professional engineering licensure.
• Familiarity with mining operations and processes, particularly in the context of instrumentation.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in instrumentation design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar applications.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and performance analysis.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and API related to instrumentation.
• Competence in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting instrumentation issues.
• Knowledge of safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies in engineering projects.
