About the role

Gmining Ventures is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join our team in Georgetown. This position is a fixed-term role focused on the Oko West project, where you will play a crucial part in the development and execution of civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering principles and practices, with a passion for contributing to innovative mining solutions. You will work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals to ensure that all projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

What you'll do

Design and oversee the construction of various civil engineering projects related to mining operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate the suitability of locations for proposed projects.
Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to analyze soil and rock properties, ensuring the stability of structures.
Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for project proposals.
Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule and within financial constraints.
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to coordinate project activities and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
Implement quality control measures to ensure that all work meets the required standards and specifications.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Prepare technical reports and documentation for project stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and company management.
Participate in project meetings and provide updates on progress, challenges, and solutions to ensure effective communication among team members.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve engineering processes and project outcomes.
Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge in civil engineering.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, preferably within the mining or construction sectors.
Proficiency in engineering design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
Knowledge of local and international engineering codes and standards related to civil engineering and mining.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Nice to have

Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
Experience with environmental engineering practices and sustainability initiatives in mining.
Familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
Previous experience working in remote locations or under challenging conditions.
Additional certifications in safety management or construction management.
