The Role and Responsibilities
The Audit Manager
Nonprofit/Single Audit serves as the critical link between partners, clients, and professional staff. In this role, you will own the full audit lifecycle for nonprofit clients, guiding work from initial intake through final sign-off. You will be responsible for managing multiple nonprofit and tax-exempt auditing and assurance projects simultaneously.
A key part of this position involves orchestrating complex workflows. You will schedule, staff, and coordinate the engagement lifecycle to ensure efficiency and adherence to quality standards. Developing and training staff is also a core duty, as you mentor team members and foster their professional growth. also, you will actively make connections to identify and develop new business opportunities for the firm.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Workflow Management: You will orchestrate intake workflows to ensure information flows seamlessly from discovery to planning.
- Program Design: You will design build steps for audit programs that are tailored to specific client risk profiles and operating models.
- Quality Assurance: You will lead review routines where findings are rigorously tested, evidence is thoroughly gathered, and professional judgment is applied.
- Delivery Coordination: You will coordinate ship activities, including the assembly of documentation packs and the timely delivery of results to clients.
- Stakeholder
Engagement: You will establish and manage partner touchpoints to align objectives, resolve issues, and support business growth initiatives.
- Schedule Management: You will map engagement dependencies to maintain realistic schedules and balance resources effectively.
- Team Leadership: You will guide staff development through consistent coaching, actionable feedback, and practical skill-building exercises.
- Business Development: You will champion new business by expanding client relationships and identifying advisory service opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
- You bring a minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting or nonprofit audit.
- You possess a deep skill set with Single Audit Act requirements and government grant compliance.
- You can successfully manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
- You communicate clearly and effectively in both writing and speaking with clients and internal teams.
- You hold an active Certified Public Accountant license or are currently eligible to qualify for licensure.
Preferred Experience and Tools
- Prior experience working with nonprofit clients, grant management, and standard compliance frameworks is highly valued.
- Proficiency with core tools such as Microsoft Office 365, QuickBooks, CaseWare, and TeamMate is expected.
