We are currently expanding our central legal department and seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our dynamic organization.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The successful candidate will manage high-stakes commercial and regulatory matters while serving as a strategic advisor to business units. You will be responsible for navigating complex legal landscapes and ensuring that our operations and transactions align with our growth objectives and compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities

You will own the end-to-end management of complex commercial agreements and regulatory strategy. This involves translating business objectives into legally sound structures and providing clear guidance on risk mitigation. You will design and implement workflows that identify deal context and potential issues before execution. A core part of this role involves drafting precise contract language that meets both legal standards and business goals. You will coordinate reviews with internal stakeholders to refine terms and ensure clarity of obligations. This includes managing the approval process and version control to ensure agreements are delivered on schedule. You will establish and maintain playbooks that standardize legal processes, improving efficiency for the entire team. Collaboration with product and finance departments will be essential to building guardrails that support responsible growth. You will also partner with external law firms and advisors to resolve complex issues and keep projects moving forward.

Requirements

You must be eligible to work in Canada and hold a law license in good standing. Candidates are required to have a minimum of three years of post-qualification experience in commercial legal roles. A deep understanding of technology transactions, SaaS agreements, and relevant regulatory frameworks is necessary for success in this position. You must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams on a daily basis. You must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. You should be comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of complex legal matters with minimal supervision. A methodical approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining legal compliance are essential for this role. You must be willing to adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure a consistent and professional standard of work.

Nice to have

Experience in the gaming, iGaming, or geolocation sectors is highly valued. Familiarity with the specific compliance and risk management issues within these industries is a significant advantage. Proficiency with legal technology and collaboration tools is required. You will be expected to utilize Confluence, Jira, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Slack to perform your duties efficiently.
