Security Software Engineer Intern
Job description
About the role
Position Overview at GeoComply
GeoComply seeks a Security Software Engineer Intern to advance our mission of securing the digital landscape. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing secure entry points, building foundational security modules, and ensuring our technology meets the highest standards of regulatory compliance. You will contribute directly to protecting global transactions while optimizing user pathways, operating within strict timelines and a framework of rigorous integrity. This internship offers the opportunity to work on a massive scale, with our technology installed on over 400 million devices and analyzing more than 12 billion transactions annually. You will engage with complex threat models and help translate evolving security requirements into robust technical implementations that safeguard our infrastructure. The work you perform will directly influence the integrity of verification systems that span continents and regulatory jurisdictions. You will be expected to question existing assumptions about risk and propose concrete improvements that strengthen the overall security posture. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in environments where precision, curiosity, and ownership are non-negotiable.
Location and Engagement
This position is based in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and is structured as an internship. The compensation for this role is 1,500,000 VND monthly.
What you'll do
- Investigate incoming data streams to identify anomalies and define rules that enforce secure data intake at scale.
- Construct foundational security modules using approved programming languages, ensuring every component adheres to strict compliance standards.
- Analyze test results to detect logic deviations and iteratively refine code so that transaction integrity aligns exactly with policy expectations.
- Partner with deployment systems to guide approved builds through controlled pipelines, validating configurations before production promotion.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve interface mismatches quickly and ensure that security controls are embedded seamlessly.
- Monitor defect reports and trend data to surface recurring patterns, then propose targeted adjustments that reduce future risk exposure.
- Record every procedure and decision in detailed documentation so that future contributors can easily understand, replicate, and extend the work.
- Support the implementation of security features that maintain high performance while meeting the regulatory requirements of global markets.
- Validate that security policies are enforced consistently across different environments and that no unauthorized pathways remain unchecked.
- Assist in the creation of testing scenarios that simulate adversarial behavior to verify the resilience of protective mechanisms.
- Collaborate with product and engineering partners to translate business requirements into secure technical specifications.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of security tooling by identifying gaps and suggesting enhancements based on real-world observations.
- Ensure that all implemented solutions are traceable, auditable, and aligned with the company's framework of risk management.
- Act as an active learner who absorbs feedback rapidly and applies it to strengthen both personal skills and team outcomes.
Requirements
- You must be currently enrolled in an educational program and anticipate graduation within the timeline defined by the internship cycle.
- You are required to have prior hands-on experience with security-focused tasks or protective mechanisms relevant to software development.
- A strong understanding of networking concepts and standard internet protocols is required throughout the review and implementation cycle.
- Fluency in at least one modern coding language is necessary to implement secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
- You must demonstrate the capability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining precision under firm deadlines.
- You are expected to follow defined security policies and procedural guidelines without deviation during execution.
- You should possess the ability to read and interpret technical specifications, then translate them into functional and tested code.
- A meticulous approach to detail is essential, as even minor oversights can lead to significant security implications in production systems.
