VP, Trading Systems Developer
Job description
About the role
You will architect and own the design of low latency trading systems that underpin critical market data ingestion, order routing, and execution pipelines across OTC, Market Making, Prop, and Systematic Trading. You will independently analyze complex performance issues, own their resolution end to end, and translate ambiguous business requirements into robust, deterministic software solutions. You will champion the thoughtful adoption of AI to elevate team throughput and improve trading outcomes. You will leverage modern AI tools such as generative AI and data copilots to refine code, accelerate debugging, and enhance decision quality. You will optimize every layer of the technology stack from application logic through operating system settings, network stack behavior, and hardware interactions to extract maximum throughput and minimize latency. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure that scheduling, memory management, and kernel bypass technologies align with strict deterministic performance goals.
Key facts
What you'll do
Design and implement high performance trading systems that process market data and execute orders with minimal latency across multiple asset classes.
Work independently to investigate intricate production issues, applying strong analytical and problem solving skills to drive issues to full resolution.
Champion the pragmatic integration of AI into daily workflows to amplify individual and team performance while preserving rigorous engineering standards.
Utilize generative AI and automation platforms to accelerate development cycles, improve output quality, and refine decision making in trading workflows.
Collaborate with infrastructure and networking teams to tune the full technology stack, including application logic, operating system parameters, network protocols, and hardware characteristics.
Apply deep knowledge of concurrency and multithreaded programming to eliminate contention, reduce lock contention, and maximize throughput in latency sensitive paths.
Develop and maintain low latency messaging integrations using protocols and transports such as Aeron and 29West, ensuring reliability and predictable throughput.
Optimize network stack behavior, including TCP and UDP tuning, multicast usage, routing, switching, and congestion control to meet strict latency targets.
Leverage kernel bypass technologies like DPDK, Solarflare OpenOnload, and RDMA where appropriate to reduce latency and improve message throughput.
Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks by analyzing scheduling, memory management, and garbage collection behavior in production environments.
Partner with trading and infrastructure stakeholders to define, monitor, and continuously improve latency and throughput metrics for critical trading applications.
Ensure that all delivered components adhere to strict reliability, observability, and deterministic performance requirements demanded by professional trading desks.
