What you'll do
Partner with FP&A to conduct monthly expense analysis, identifying root causes of variance against budget, forecast, and prior period performance for each business unit.
Own the collection, validation, and reconciliation of operating expense data across legal entities, ensuring accuracy in corporate and business unit segment reporting.
Serve as the primary Controllership contact for business unit stakeholders, investigating expense variances and clarifying cost allocation outcomes for P&L accountability.
Lead the development of segment reporting deliverables, ensuring SEC segment disclosures are accurate, timely, and traceable to underlying source systems.
Support intercompany elimination and consolidation procedures, with a focus on cost allocations between corporate and business unit entities.
Review and validate capitalized costs, distinguishing between capitalizable spend and operating expenses within the established segment reporting framework.
Analyze legal entity level results for service entities, interpreting rate-card, pass-through, and non-controllable cost structures for business unit clarity.
Manage the integration of new acquisitions and internal restructures into the existing segment and allocation framework from a controllership perspective.
Embrace and champion the thoughtful adoption of AI to improve team performance and business outcomes in financial reporting and analysis.
Leverage AI tools such as generative AI, automation platforms, and data copilots to enhance productivity, decision quality, and output accuracy in daily workflows.
Manage and respond to external audit requests related to expense reporting, segment results, and allocation methodologies in a timely and thorough manner.
Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between corporate finance, business unit leaders, and FP&A to ensure alignment on expense treatment and reporting standards.
Maintain detailed documentation of allocation methodologies, assumptions, and calculation processes to support transparency and auditability.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining close processes, reducing manual effort, and enhancing the reliability of segment reporting.
Requirements
You possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related quantitative field, with a strong academic foundation in financial reporting and cost accounting principles.
You have demonstrated experience in a controllership, financial reporting, or accounting operations role, preferably within a multi-segment or corporate environment.
You are proficient in Excel and financial systems, with the ability to manipulate large datasets, reconcile complex accounts, and produce accurate financial reporting.
You understand general accepted accounting principles (GAAP), with specific knowledge of segment reporting, expense allocation, and consolidation procedures.
You have the ability to interpret financial results, explain variances, and communicate insights to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
You exhibit strong attention to detail, with the discipline to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
You are comfortable operating independently and collaboratively across distributed teams, aligning with Galaxy's culture of high performance and transparent feedback.
You have experience working with or learning complex allocation methodologies, including rate-card, pass-through, and corporate service center cost models.
You demonstrate a commitment to ethical conduct, data integrity, and compliance with internal controls and external regulatory expectations.
