Platform Engineering Manager
Job description
About the role
You will lead Platform Engineering for Galaxy Digital's Digital Infrastructure division, owning the technical strategy and delivery of shared infrastructure services that sit beneath every client engagement. In this player-coach role, you will set the long term direction for both the forward-deployed engineering track and the platform engineering track, ensuring career ladders and skill compounding for all engineers on the team. You will develop and mentor engineers while simultaneously running the operational machinery that keeps multi client engagements moving reliably and securely. You will partner closely with the Head of Engineering, Platform and Edge to decide which initiatives become generalized platform capabilities and which remain bespoke for specific client needs. You will be expected to read architecture diagrams deeply, challenge design decisions when necessary, and communicate effectively with senior engineers at tier 1 institutions. Ultimately, you will make certain that the engagements our team supports land successfully and scale efficiently across production environments.
Key facts
What you'll do
Lead the team by developing engineers on both the platform and forward deployed tracks, building expertise that compounds without dead end paths.
Set the bar for technical excellence, operational rigor, and client facing craft, ensuring that standards are clear, measurable, and upheld.
Bring on new engineers deliberately, favoring measured, deliberate hiring over rapid scale up to maintain team cohesion and quality.
Own the technical strategy for shared platform components including compute, networking, observability, CI/CD, validator clusters, the data plane, and secrets and key management.
Make build, buy, or reuse decisions that balance generalization into shared platform capability against bespoke solutions for individual engagements.
Hold ownership for production reliability of institutional grade systems that run in production 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Run the end to end rotation model by deploying engineers into client engagements and cycling them back to harden the platform, ensuring continuous feedback between tracks.
Manage team logistics including staffing across multiple engagements, capacity planning, on call rotation, meeting cadences, and incident response processes.
Coordinate closely with Digital Infrastructure, client facing teams, and engagement leads so the right engineers are on the right work at the right time.
Operate as a decisive leader who balances strategic direction with hands on technical contribution when necessary.
Leverage tools such as AWS EKS, VPC, MSK, Aurora, S3, GitOps with FluxCD, Terraform, Datadog, Grafana, Wiz, Kafka, KMS and HSM, MPC, AWS Nitro Enclaves, Postgres, and Cloudflare for ingress and zero trust.
Provide transparent feedback and foster an environment where disagreement happens openly but constructively to improve system design.
Champion independent decision making while keeping the team highly aligned on outcomes and reliability goals.
Build dream teams that thrive under a culture of builders, high performance, and mission first thinking.
