Member of Technical Staff
Job description
About the role
This role defines the intersection of deep technical research and institutional-grade delivery. You will architect resilient backend structures and shepherd systems from initial exploration through deployment in regulated environments. The position moves fluidly between investigation and implementation, building the edge infrastructure that institutions depend on. You own the full lifecycle of critical services, from initial discovery and scoping through design, implementation, and long-term operations. The role requires balancing innovation with the stringent reliability standards demanded by institutional clients and regulated workflows. You will be responsible for defining and driving architecture decisions that shape the core infrastructure of on-chain systems. This position demands a high degree of ownership, where you refuse to accept shallow solutions and instead drive implementations to completion with rigorous standards.

Compensation Details
This position offers a base salary of $180,000, with total compensation reaching $240,000. This role is posted for 2024 hires. Remote work is available for US-based positions.
Responsibilities
You will design and own off-chain systems that connect validators and custody flows to institutional settlement paths. This includes infrastructure for key management integrations, compliance automation, and the APIs and services linking on-chain protocols to enterprise workflows. You will define deployment pipelines where observability, runbooks, and audit logs uphold strict institutional SLAs. You will drive architecture decisions and refuse to accept specs without rigorous ownership of implementation. You will chart research pathways from early concept to deployed service for emerging on-chain primitives and protocols. Evaluation of validator and staking stacks will be part of your work, followed by integration of custody patterns that satisfy regulated workflows. You will partner with product teams to align infrastructure roadmaps with compliance and operational realities. You will champion transparent feedback and independent decision-making, iterating on designs through constructive disagreement. The position involves building and iterating on systems that turn high-level concepts into dependable, trackable services with end-to-end accountability. You will implement resilient patterns that ensure system stability under demanding conditions. You will investigate and resolve complex technical issues that span distributed systems and infrastructure layers. You will translate ambiguous requirements into concrete technical specifications with clear execution plans. You will collaborate with security teams to validate designs and ensure implementations meet institutional risk standards. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of robust monitoring and alerting frameworks.
Qualifications
You hold strong fundamentals in distributed systems, backend engineering, and production cloud infrastructure. You design and operate systems where reliability, security, and auditability are non-negotiable requirements. You possess a track record of moving ideas from research and prototype through to production with care and rigor. You operate with high autonomy in fast-moving environments while maintaining clarity and ownership. Working knowledge of blockchain systems such as Ethereum, Solana, validator operations, or on-chain protocols is required, or you demonstrate a clear ability to learn new domains deeply and quickly. You own your work end-to-end, demonstrating high agency and low ego. You communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are comfortable making decisions in contexts with incomplete information while managing ambiguity.
Preferred Experience
Experience contributing to technical research that defines new system directions is valued. There is no specific list of tools; capability with relevant technologies will be considered in context.
