About the role

As a Project Manager specializing in Mission Critical environments at Fourgen, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing projects that are essential to our clients' operational success. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and strong leadership skills to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for managing cross-functional teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and implementing best practices in project management to drive efficiency and effectiveness in mission-critical operations.

What you'll do

Lead the planning and execution of mission-critical projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and organizational goals.
Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, timelines, resources, and budget requirements, adapting as necessary to meet changing needs.
Coordinate with various teams, including engineering, operations, and IT, to ensure seamless project execution and integration of systems.
Facilitate regular project meetings to track progress, address challenges, and communicate updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with project execution, implementing proactive measures to minimize potential disruptions.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to secure necessary resources and services for project completion.
Monitor project performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare detailed reports for senior management and clients.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, maintaining a focus on safety and quality throughout all project phases.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Collaborate with clients to understand their specific needs and expectations, ensuring that project deliverables meet or exceed their requirements.
Utilize project management tools and software to streamline processes and enhance communication among team members.
Conduct post-project evaluations to assess outcomes, gather feedback, and identify areas for future improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in mission-critical environments or similar sectors.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from inception to completion, with a focus on meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, and proficiency in project management software tools.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams toward common goals.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to various stakeholders.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to mission-critical operations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice to have

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent credentials.
Experience with data center operations or similar mission-critical facilities.
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and practices.
Familiarity with budgeting and financial management in project settings.
Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.

Skills & tools

Proficient in project management software such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or Trello.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom for effective team communication.
Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for project tracking and reporting.

Practical notes

This role is based in Oak Brook, Illinois, and requires a full-time commitment. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external clients to ensure project success. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and Fourgen is open to discussing visa sponsorship for the right candidate.
