What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental management systems that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that safety protocols are integrated into all operational processes and projects.
- Lead training sessions and workshops to educate employees on health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring a high level of awareness and compliance.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, preparing reports for senior management to highlight trends and areas for improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and develop strategies to prevent recurrence, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in health, safety, and environmental management to continuously enhance the organization's safety culture.
- Facilitate the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for potential incidents.
- Engage with employees at all levels to promote a proactive approach to health and safety, encouraging open communication and feedback.
- Prepare and manage the budget for health, safety, and environmental initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including contractors and suppliers, to ensure compliance with safety standards throughout the supply chain.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant health and safety legislation.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to have
- Experience with environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Previous experience in leading safety culture transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
