Flow Traders is on the lookout for a talented Trading Operations Engineer to become a vital part of our energetic Trading Operations team based in Hong Kong. This position is crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our proprietary trading systems. You will work closely with diverse teams to guarantee that our systems operate optimally across various global markets, contributing to our mission of providing liquidity and enhancing market efficiency.

What you'll do

• Proactively troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that may affect our proprietary trading applications, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Continuously improve our infrastructure to align with evolving business needs and enhance overall performance.
• Utilize project and change management tools to effectively configure and maintain our trading infrastructure.
• Conduct thorough analyses to enhance connectivity with exchanges, ensuring seamless trading operations.
• Investigate latency issues and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify solutions that enhance system performance and efficiency.
• Monitor the performance of trading applications and IT infrastructure, documenting findings for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with software developers to design and implement new features and improvements for in-house applications.
• Engage in system performance tuning and optimization to ensure the highest levels of efficiency in trading operations.
• Participate in the development and implementation of best practices for operational processes and procedures.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the team.
• Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing system performance and operational metrics.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Trading Operations, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering, particularly in a proprietary or high-frequency trading environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems, with proven experience managing complex, latency-sensitive production environments.
• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages, particularly Python; familiarity with Go, Bash, or C++ is advantageous.
• Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, multicast, routing, and DNS, with hands-on experience in network packet analysis to troubleshoot low-latency system challenges.
• Experience in managing and supporting distributed systems and real-time infrastructure, particularly using Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker in production scenarios.
• Practical experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures, including the ability to tune and scale these systems effectively.
• Understanding of database systems and fundamental database concepts, with experience in optimizing database performance.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP), focusing on automation and infrastructure management practices.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills, enabling quick identification and resolution of issues within high-performance distributed systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively with developers, traders, and infrastructure engineers.
• A self-driven and proactive approach, with the capability to mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall operational excellence of the team.

• Experience with additional programming languages or tools that are relevant to trading operations.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools that enhance system observability and performance tracking.
• Knowledge of financial markets and trading strategies, providing context for operational decisions.
