About the role
This internship places you at the center of FloSports' mission to build digital homes for underserved and emerging sports. You will own the creation of audience development content that engages fans, markets live events, tells compelling stories, and enhances the brand across multiple platforms. The role provides project based work with specific goals that can be added directly to your professional portfolio, allowing you to demonstrate tangible results. You will craft and execute a coverage strategy for college football, college basketball, and additional sports, defining how stories are told for each event. Advanced training will be provided on how to implement and execute a successful SEO-centric content strategy that supports discovery and growth. Throughout the program, you will have a dedicated supervisor and mentor to guide you, challenge you, and provide structured feedback. You will learn the ins and outs of an OTT sports media company, from production workflows to audience analytics and community engagement. This internship is available from August through January, requiring a serious commitment that aligns with the academic calendar.

What you'll do
Create content that engages fans, markets live events, tells compelling stories, and enhances the brand across digital channels.
Conduct SEO research and implement search strategy techniques to optimize content for discovery and audience growth.
Develop a coverage strategy for college football, college basketball, and other sports, aligning content with event calendars and audience interest.
Build content based on current and historical trends around our events, breaking news, and evergreen topics to maximize relevance and longevity.
Use data and trends to inform story angles, headlines, and formats that resonate with target audiences across different sports communities.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to support the goals of the FloSports Content team and ensure consistent messaging.
Leverage tools such as Google Trends to identify search behavior, seasonal spikes, and emerging topics within sports categories.
Write and edit original copy while adhering to established style guidelines and maintaining clarity, accuracy, and voice.
Utilize productivity suites including Google Docs, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets or Excel to organize research, track progress, and present findings.
Adapt to flexible scheduling, including weekend availability, to cover live events and meet production timelines as they arise.
Requirements
Must be available to work from August through May to ensure continuity throughout the academic term and seasonal sports coverage.
Must maintain a minimum availability of 20 to 25 hours per week to meet production deadlines and support consistent content output.
Weekend availability is required to align with live event schedules and ensure timely publication of related content.
This is a paid internship offering $18 per hour, reflecting the value of the work and the skills being developed.
Demonstrate strong written communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into accessible and engaging narratives.
Show a documented history of writing content with basic editing skills, including grammar, structure, and clarity.
Familiarity with AP Style and Chicago Style is required to ensure consistency and professionalism across all published work.
Experience working with Google Docs, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets or Excel is necessary for collaboration and reporting.
Must be able to take direction from supervisors and mentors while also contributing independent ideas and solutions.
Comfortable creating content across multiple sports, including but not limited to college football, volleyball, wrestling, and grappling.
Must reliably hit deadlines and proactively communicate when timelines are at risk, demonstrating accountability and ownership.
Highly motivated to learn more about the world of digital sports content production and the business of sports media.
Possess knowledge of how to navigate Google Trends and interpret search data to inform content decisions is considered a plus.
