About the role
Firmus Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to own the full lifecycle of electrical, controls, and cabling design for next-generation AI infrastructure. You will translate high-level operational requirements into detailed electrical and control system solutions that underpin the Firmus AI Factory. This role involves end-to-end ownership from concept development through detailed design, qualification, commissioning, and operational support. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability targets are met within demanding project schedules. The position requires a hands-on engineer who can bridge technical design and on-site execution to guarantee plant performance. You will define and implement technical standards that shape how Firmus delivers resilient and efficient AI infrastructure. Your work will directly influence how AI compute is deployed at scale across the Asia-Pacific region.

What you'll do
Carry out detailed engineering design and calculations to define power distribution, protection, and control schemes for data centre infrastructure.
Develop comprehensive equipment specifications and perform final equipment selection, defining required capacities, functionality, and efficiency targets.
Write and maintain key technical documentation, including design documents, specifications, and operational procedures from concept through commissioning.
Review and provide critical feedback on consultant and contractor designs to ensure alignment with Firmus performance and sustainability standards.
Review electrical drawings and equipment selections produced by contractors to verify compliance with project requirements and best practices.
Assist in the technical qualification and onboarding of third-party consultants and contractors to maintain engineering rigor.
Participate in site inspections to validate that installation work adheres precisely to approved documentation and specifications.
Support the creation of Operation and Maintenance manuals that detail all maintenance requirements for systems and equipment.
Engage in commissioning activities to verify that electrical and control systems perform as intended under real-world conditions.
Drive research and development initiatives focused on design optimization and the adoption of innovative electrical technologies.
Develop and evolve technical engineering standards and specifications to improve consistency and quality across projects.
Contribute to project planning and scoping efforts, providing accurate engineering input for schedules and resource allocation.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is mandatory for this role.
You must bring 8+ years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3 years focused on Data Centre MEP engineering.
A strong working knowledge of electrical principles across direct current, low voltage AC, and medium voltage AC systems is essential.
Demonstrated experience with power distribution, protection, and control systems specific to data centre environments is required.
You must have a proven track record of developing technical specifications and equipment selection for complex electrical systems.
The ability to create clear, detailed design documentation and calculations is a non-negotiable part of this position.
Experience reviewing consultant and contractor deliverables to ensure technical accuracy is a hard requirement.
Willingness to travel, primarily during project delivery phases, with an expected range of 10-30% of working time.
