Power Systems Integration Intern [Fall 2026]
Job description
About the role
The internship centers on power systems integration for humanoid robots intended for deployment in home and commercial settings. The hired individual will contribute directly to ensuring safe, reliable, and performant operation in alignment with long-term autonomy objectives. This position provides hands-on experience contributing to hardware, firmware, and controls integration. Interns will increase the operational envelope while carefully accounting for cross-functional impacts across hardware, firmware, controls, and diverse use cases. You will isolate faults on embedded boards by proficiently using test instruments such as oscilloscopes and multimeters. The role involves analyzing system-level logs to trace root causes and meticulously documenting findings. Success in this position requires applying battery design, operation, and safety considerations to critical hardware decisions.

Typical interview steps
Internship hiring usually involves a resume review, a behavioral conversation, and sometimes a skills exercise.
Candidates are evaluated for potential, curiosity, and communication rather than deep experience.
Show interest, ask questions, and prepare examples from projects or coursework.
Interviewers at this level care most about motivation and coachability.
Real examples from projects, classes, or clubs beat generic answers.
Good to know
Humanoid robots rely on power electronics, controls, and embedded software working together.
Teams use Linux, Python, and simulation tools to iterate on hardware behavior.
Diagnostics and measurement guide decisions in fast prototyping cycles.
Clear documentation links individual tests to system reliability.
Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works.
Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable.
Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
Internships are a bridge to early careers.
A strong internship leads to a full-time offer and a head start on experience.
Interns who take ownership, ask questions, and document their work get the most out of the program.
Interns who treat the program like a real job, with follow through and visible ownership, convert to full-time offers at the highest rates.
