What you'll do
- Oversee and manage financial tracking and documentation related to technology development capitalization, including monitoring key metrics that determine capitalizable expenses and assessing their impact on operating expenses.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial reporting requests and operational metrics from our headquarters in Japan, ensuring timely and accurate communication of financial data.
- Develop, maintain, and improve financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning, budgeting, and long-term business initiatives.
- Conduct detailed monthly and quarterly financial analyses, including variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing reconciliations, reviewing financial results, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Operations, and Marketing to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue growth.
- Analyze key business drivers and present clear, concise insights to leadership, enabling informed strategic decisions.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for audits and internal reviews.
- Lead initiatives to improve internal compliance and financial control measures, aligning with public company governance standards.
- Perform ad-hoc research, data analysis, and special projects as assigned, contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the finance department.
- Support the maintenance and adherence to the company's Quality Management System (QMS), as required of all employees, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Between 1 and 3 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, accounting, or a similar analytical role.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to evaluate financial performance.
- Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions such as financial modeling, complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to assist team members and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Practical notes
This position requires on-site work at our corporate office located in Schaumburg, Illinois. The salary range for this role is between $75,000 and $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
