About the role
This position owns the complete cash flow lifecycle from initial intake to final reconciliation. You will serve as the primary guardian of revenue integrity, performing meticulous credit checks and precise system updates. The role requires close collaboration with finance and sales departments to mitigate risk effectively while ensuring strict adherence to compliance standards. Your work will directly support the company's growth by securing the financial foundation necessary for bold initiatives. You will act as a critical partner to sales teams, ensuring that credit policies are upheld without hindering legitimate business opportunities. The successful candidate will exercise strong judgment to resolve complex cash application issues independently with minimal supervision. You will be instrumental in driving process excellence within the finance function on a daily basis.
Impact in this role
You will be responsible for performing detailed credit investigations on new customers and assisting the credit management team with comprehensive account reviews. This function is critical for maintaining the health of the company's financial ecosystem and enabling sustainable expansion. You will analyze complex financial data to identify trends and protect the organization from potential exposure. Your efforts will directly reduce the risk of bad debt and improve the accuracy of financial reporting. This role plays a vital part in optimizing working capital by ensuring that cash is applied correctly and timely. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of financial controls and internal audit processes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Orchestrate daily cash application by tracing payments accurately to open invoices across multiple financial systems.
- Design and refine intake workflows to ensure the capture of clean, high-quality remittance data before booking transactions.
- Build and maintain reconciliation routines that seamlessly link bank feed data to corresponding customer accounts.
- Conduct regular reviews of aged receivables and propose strategic actions aimed at reducing days sales outstanding.
- Generate and ship clear insights to key stakeholders to clarify the current cash position and highlight emerging risk trends.
- Develop partner playbooks in conjunction with banking and sales teams to streamline the resolution of payment disputes.
- Champion the creation and use of process templates to standardize procedures for new entry handling.
- Act as the primary safeguard for data quality by consistently validating transactions against original source documents.
- Monitor cash flow metrics and provide proactive alerts for any discrepancies or anomalies detected.
- Support month-end closing activities related to accounts receivable and cash management.
- Investigate and resolve customer payment queries with a high level of professionalism and speed.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure adherence to cash application policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains within the cash application process.
- Maintain detailed documentation of processes, controls, and exceptions for audit purposes.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Majors in these specific fields provide the foundational knowledge required for this position.
- Possess three to five years of professional experience within credit or collections roles in a similar operational environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage high volumes of daily requests without compromising accuracy or attention to detail.
- Show proficiency in interpreting D&B reports to inform sound credit decisions and risk assessment.
- Update customer records and meticulously log outcomes within company systems on a daily basis.
- Communicate effectively and professionally in writing and speech with all internal stakeholders.
- Solve complex problems using logical reasoning while always protecting the company's best interests.
- Have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) related to revenue recognition and cash handling.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in fraud mitigation is highly valued.
- Mastery of the MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint, is considered a significant advantage.
