About the role
Fastly is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our Deal Desk team in San Francisco. You will serve as a primary partner to the sales organization, focusing on deal structuring, pricing strategy, and the optimization of our contract lifecycle. In this capacity, you will own the oversight of complex transactional workflows from initiation to close, ensuring all commercial terms are rigorously evaluated against established risk parameters. You will act as the central hub for all deal-related inquiries, providing definitive answers and actionable guidance to internal stakeholders. Your analytical rigor will directly influence the company's revenue integrity and profitability by safeguarding against margin erosion. You will be responsible for translating high-level commercial objectives into concrete, actionable steps for the sales teams. What you'll do
- Partner with sales leadership to architect strategic deal structures that optimize revenue recognition and align with long-term corporate targets.
- Serve as the central administrator for the end-to-end approval workflow, tracking each deal through every stage to guarantee adherence to policy.
- Interpret complex contractual language and translate it into clear guidance for sales personnel regarding pricing allowances and payment terms.
- Develop and maintain dashboards that visualize key performance indicators, enabling the identification of operational inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
- Act as the primary liaison between sales, finance, and legal teams to resolve discrepancies and unblock stalled negotiations efficiently.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of discount structures and custom terms to ensure consistency with Fastly's risk tolerance and strategic priorities.
- Implement process enhancements that reduce the time required for deal review cycles, thereby increasing the velocity of sales closures.
- Monitor market conditions and competitive offerings to provide insights on pricing adjustments and packaging strategies.
- Collaborate with finance to perform scenario modeling, assessing the financial impact of proposed deals before final execution.
- Ensure all documentation is meticulously organized and stored in accordance with regulatory and internal compliance standards.
- Provide training and support to junior team members on deal desk protocols and the use of analytical tools.
- Drive initiatives to standardize contract templates, reducing variability and improving the efficiency of the drafting process.
- Analyze historical deal data to forecast revenue outcomes and support capacity planning for the sales organization.
- Champion the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to maintain the department's position as a leader in operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bring a proven track record of success in a Deal Desk, Sales Operations, or Revenue Operations role within a fast-growth environment.
- Demonstrate a deep and sophisticated understanding of Software as a Service business models and the intricacies of enterprise contract management.
- Exhibit the ability to manage multiple high-stakes priorities simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Show advanced proficiency in Customer Relationship Management software and sophisticated financial modeling tools such as spreadsheets and analytics platforms.
- Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration across diverse functional teams and seniority levels.
- Hold a strong attention to detail, ensuring that all contractual and financial elements are accurate and compliant before deal closure.
