About the role
owns the end-to-end security portfolio narrative from initial planning through global launch, making strategic decisions that directly shape how buyers perceive Fastly protection. You translate complex security architectures and technical capabilities into clear, compelling, and accessible stories for diverse internal and external teams. This role requires a deep understanding of the security buyer journey and the ability to articulate value to technical evaluators and C-level decision-makers alike. You will position Fastly's Next-Gen WAF as a modern, developer-friendly, and low false-positive alternative to legacy, cumbersome WAF solutions. A core part of the role involves addressing nuanced compliance and regulatory messaging to meet the specific needs of procurement, legal, and other halo personas. You will build powerful cross-sell narratives that enable existing CDN customers to clearly see the tangible value of adopting integrated security solutions. Collaboration with sales and enablement teams is central, as you co-create essential training materials, dynamic slide decks, and other assets that equip sellers to navigate complex security conversations. You will leverage competitive intelligence and rich market context derived from Portfolio Intelligence to continuously refine and optimize product positioning. Achieving cross-functional alignment ensures that product strategy, messaging, and packaging work together seamlessly and effectively. Finally, you will create supporting assets with Growth Marketing and Campaign teams and deliver public presentations that highlight Fastly's distinct security differentiation in the marketplace.

What you'll do
- Execute the full lifecycle of product marketing for the security portfolio, encompassing strategy, planning, launch, and measurement.
- Architect and own the overarching narrative and positioning for security solutions to influence buyer perception and decision-making.
- Craft messaging for Fastly's Next-Gen WAF that emphasizes its developer-first design and significantly reduced false positives compared to traditional alternatives.
- Develop sophisticated messaging frameworks that address compliance and regulatory requirements for key personas including procurement and legal teams.
- Enable cross-sell initiatives by creating narratives that help established CDN customers recognize the value of adding security capabilities.
- Partner closely with sales and enablement to design and distribute training materials, battle cards, and presentation slide decks for every stage of the sales cycle.
- Synthesize competitive intelligence and market insights from Portfolio Intelligence to identify gaps and refine positioning strategies.
- Drive alignment between product, marketing, and sales teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness in messaging and packaging.
- Collaborate with Growth Marketing and Campaign teams to build content assets that actively support the end-to-end buyer journey.
- Represent Fastly's security vision by delivering compelling public presentations that underscore the company's unique differentiation in the edge cloud security space.
Requirements
- Bring a minimum of eight years of cumulative professional experience, with at least three years specifically focused on product marketing.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of security buyer journeys and the ability to communicate effectively with CISO-level stakeholders.
- Exhibit strong technical aptitude, coupled with genuine enthusiasm for application security, SaaS delivery models, and DevOps practices.
- Communicate with exceptional clarity and precision, both in writing and verbally, to diverse audiences across the organization.
- Apply critical thinking skills to solve intricate problems within ambiguous and rapidly changing contexts.
- Maintain strong organizational abilities to successfully prioritize multiple initiatives and manage complex tasks simultaneously.
- Operate as a self-starter who takes full ownership of projects and drives them to completion with minimal supervision.
