About the role
The role owner is responsible for architecting the operational rhythm and governance framework for the Fastly Performance Center, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business outcomes at internet scale. You will partner cross-functionally to build the structures, cadences, and metrics that drive accountability, reliability, and revenue protection for the most demanding workloads. This position requires a strategic operator who thrives in ambiguity, owns complex dependencies, and translates high-volume telemetry into clear narratives for executive stakeholders. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of high-stakes initiatives, from scheduling and prioritization through resolution and continuous improvement. The role demands exceptional rigor in tracking commitments, closing open action items, and maintaining transparency across Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, Revenue, and Finance. You will influence platform evolution by shaping operational strategies that safeguard quality of service and customer success globally. This position reports to the Head of Performance Center Operations and evolves with the maturity of the program and strategic priorities from the Office of the Founder & CTO.

What you'll do
Build and refine the operational framework for the Performance Center to drive accountability across high-stakes initiatives and ensure commitments to partners are met at Fastly-scale.
Drive the operational cadence of the department by owning the scheduling, agenda setting, and facilitation of daily standups, weekly syncs, and seasonal readiness reviews.
Define and track the strategic operational metrics that define our success, including revenue protection, churn reduction, onboarding velocity, and resource intensity to ensure the team is scaling efficiently.
Act as the primary closer for all open action items, relentlessly chasing down loose ends across teams to ensure incident follow-ups and project milestones reach 100% resolution.
Serve as a strategic facilitator for resolution by partnering with teams to navigate dependencies, surface potential blockers early, and ensure lessons learned are transformed into proactive improvements.
Instill consistency in operational methodologies by maintaining the discipline of documentation and tracking tools to ensure full organizational transparency.
Synthesize complex technical telemetry into high-level narratives for executive leadership, contextualizing account health within the broader business strategy.
Own the end-to-end scheduling and facilitation of cross-functional reviews that align platform stability with customer and revenue outcomes.
Establish clear traceability between platform performance, customer success, and financial metrics to guide strategic investment decisions.
Champion data-driven decision-making by defining the signals that indicate healthy platform operations and customer alignment.
Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to ensure operational frameworks evolve alongside platform capabilities and customer demands.
Drive continuous improvement by institutionalizing best practices for incident follow-up, milestone tracking, and stakeholder communication.
Requirements
At least 8 years of progressive experience in Operational Leadership, Program Management, or Engineering Management, specifically leading complex, large-scale efforts in high-volume internet traffic or cloud infrastructure environments.
A reputation for exceptional operational rigor and a strong action bias, with a proven ability to drive cross-functional initiatives to completion rather than just tracking progress.
Demonstrated executive presence and the ability to partner with and influence C-suite stakeholders by translating deep technical findings into business-ready insights.
Strategic fluency in the Big Picture with the ability to articulate how technical performance impacts financial margins and customer success.
Exceptional diplomacy and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to navigate competing priorities and maintain alignment across distributed teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex technical and operational information for diverse audiences.
Experience working in fast-paced, high-scale internet infrastructure environments where decisions have significant business and revenue implications.
A bias for action and ownership, with a track record of closing critical initiatives and holding teams accountable to commitments.
